Bad News for Homeowners
One of the worst news any homeowner in the world can hear is hearing that he/she has rats on his/her roof. Having rats on the roof is actually worse than having them in the attic, shed, garage, or in any other object.

Rodents such as mice and rats can cause significant damage to wiring, insulation, and other home structures. They can also contaminate people’s food and other belongings. Now, this is why people should get rid of rats as soon as possible. However, getting rid of rats and mice on the roof is not an easy task to do. Getting rid of rodents on the roof includes inspecting the premises, removing the rodents, and finally preventing other rats from appearing on your roof.

Roof Rats
Not every rat can climb upon your roof and invade it. There is one special type of rats called roof rats that are able to climb upon roofs and other tall structures. Those so-called roof rats are agile and brilliant climbers that capable of traveling and foraging for food above the ground. These rodents can be seen running along utility lines, vines, dense shrubbery, and tree branches. However, don’t make this fact make you think that these rodents only access roofs by running along utility lines and other things. Roof rats are also capable of traveling on the ground and accessing the roof. And besides they are great climbers, roof rats are also excellent swimmer.

They Will Enter Your Attic
Almost all roof rats will look for a way to enter your attic or any other structure between your house’s floors through your roof. They are especially fond of entering your attic and home through holes along the roofline.

And once roof rats enter your home, it will be extremely hard to get rid of them.

Inspecting Your Home
To determine if you have rats in your home, you should first inspect your home. Some telltale signs of rat or mice in your home are rodent droppings and weird sounds that come from your walls and ceiling during the night.

If you see rodent droppings and hear weird sounds at night, you can be sure that there are roof rats in your home.
