How mice communicate using pheromones

Pheromones are some sort of chemicals that animals and insects secret to communicate a particular message to another or others within the same species. There are different types of pheromones such as food pheromones, sex pheromones, alarm pheromones among others. Insects especially do have a number of other pheromones such as epideicticpheromones, signal pheromones, primer pheromones, signal pheromones, territorial pheromones among many others. When secreted, they affect the physiology and normal of the animals or insects especially the recipients. Among these animals include the mice that also use pheromones as a communication means.

• For sexual attraction

These is practiced by the female mice. A female mouse will produce these sex pheromones when on heat with the purpose of attracting a male mouse for mating. Occasionally, a number of males will respond to these pheromones. The males respond by coming nearer the nest of the female. Here, they will normally engage in courtship activities, the main one being producing ultrasonic sound to win the female over. The male that best pleases the female is taken as the mating partner.

• For alarm purposes.

In this case, what happens is that if a mouse is in danger or some sort of stress it will produce an alarm pheromone. The scent of these pheromones would normally cover a large area and the other mice respond by coming towards the scent to its rescue. These pheromones are also produced in case an incoming predator is spotted to warn the rest

• For the rest to follow

This is especially in matters related to food. Once a mouse has established a good feeding place, it will normally produce some pheromone to have the rest follow. This is the reason why, if you happen to succeed to get rid of the mouse in your house, it will not be long before they are replaced. This is why experts would normally advice one not to concentrate too much about getting rid of the mice but putting in place measures that will make your home not a comfortable place to dwell.

• To mark their territorial boundaries

Mice like other animals produce territorial pheromones to mark boundaries around their territories. In this case, it is the males who produce these pheromones. Making of these boundaries is a means of protecting their territories from other mice.

Conclusion.

If you happen to be dealing with a mice problem, solve it quick as it will not be long before others are invited by the means of pheromones. How mice communicate using pheromones
