What should I do with a rodent after I catch it?

Call Wildlife Professionals
So you have finally caught those annoying mice or rats that were a living nightmare to you. You feel proud for catching them by yourself using nothing else but a cage trap. But, your pride vanished after you find yourself indecisive about what to do with the rats or mice you have caught.

If you don’t want to relocate your rat or mice friends because you know that would kill them and you most certainly don’t want to kill them yourself, you should call wildlife professionals to take care of your rodent pals. Keep in mind that wildlife professionals won’t do that for free.

Relocate Them
If you don’t have enough money to pay wildlife professionals to get rid of your rodent buddies, you will have to do something about your rodents. You just can’t keep them with you, can you? One of the best and most humane ways to get rid of rodents once you catch them is to release them in the wild. However, you just can’t relocate your rodents several feet away from your home. If you want to relocate your rodents, you will need to relocate them at least three miles away from your home. However, keep in mind that relocating them will be a shock to rodents and that they are less likely to survive in their new surroundings.

Kill Them
If you don’t want to relocate your rodents and you don’t want to pay wildlife removers to get rid of them, you are left with nothing else than to kill the rodents. Keep in mind that if you want to kill the rodents you have caught, that you should kill them in a way that won’t cause them to suffer.

One of the most effective ways to kill a rodent without causing it much pain is to kill it with a shotgun. Another way to kill a rodent in a humanely way is to break the animal’s neck. To break a rodent’s neck, first place the animal on a solid surface. After you have placed your rodent on a solid surface, press firmly down the animal’s head with your fingers. By doing this, you will be able to sense the anima’s spine. After you have felt the animal’s spine, hold its spine and give a sharp jerk to your rodent’s tail with your other hand. This will instantly break the animal’s neck.
