Moles are animals that are common to find on a lawn. There the animals that are responsible for burrowing on a lawn and also they are the animal that will do so much tunneling on your land.

Appearance
They have a cylindrical body and velvet fur. They also have very small and inconspicuous eyes and also the ears. The hind-limbs are reduced and very short while the fore limbs are very strong and very powerful; they have also very large paws that are adapted for digging.

Animal characteristics
The moles are said to have very large paws that are mainly are mainly adapted for digging the ground. Without the paws, the mole cannot survive and therefore they have to have them.

The moles have extra thumbs that lie next to the regular thumb. The thumb is very special and will help it to conduct most of the activities involved in digging and the normal day’s activities.

Life cycle
Considering that they are only small animals, the moles have a life span of up to 2 to 2.5 years. After this they probably die. After courtship and mating, the mole will enter in a gestation period which normally lasts for up to 4 weeks. After the gestation period is over, the female will give birth to a litter containing 2 to 7 young ones. They are fed by the mother for a couple of weeks. The young ones will leave the mother when they are about 5 weeks old.

Habitat
The main mole habitat is the underground. Moles live in tunnels underground but there will be normally other sub-tunnels for moles other activities. Therefore, to understand the main tunnel where the animal will use is the real issue. Moles main tunnels which happen to be the moles living area are situated deep underground. The sub-tunnels that are close to the surface are used as the channels to find food.

Diet
The moles main diet is the earth worms, the grubs and the grass roots. These will form a delicious diet for the moles. Any kind of worm living underground is best for the mole.
