Delray Beach Wildlife Tip: How to Keep Armadillos Away: Depending on the location, an armadillo might expect to find any number of these delectibles just an inch or so below the surface. How will you know if an armadillo is making your lawn or garden his dinner table? Sometimes, you can actually spot the animal as it makes its nightly rounds. More often, it makes its presence known by leaving small mounds of dirt or torn up patches of turf alongside holes perhaps three or four inches deep. You have several choices: put up with it; fence it out; frighten them off; render your turf or garden inhospitable, or trap it and find it a new place to live. If you fear an incursion, you can take steps to keep them away. Finding and removing animal carcasses from your home: Unfortunately, the area with the strongest smell is not necessarily where the body is. The strongest smell will be the area near the body with the least airflow through it. When you find the strong smell if it is in an open area like an attic or closet, carefully look through insulation, boxes , drawers, under things, and check any traps you might have set for the body. If it is not an open space, but a wall, sniff the wall until you locate the most powerful area of stench. If you determine that it is inside the wall, you will need to cut open a hole to retrieve the body.
